Yummmmm-ooo Treat Ideas

NUKED HOT DOGS
Start with ½ of a pkg. of turkey hot dogs. Slice thinly and place on a paper plate lined with two sheets of paper toweling. Arrange in a ring shape and cover with one layer of paper towel. Cook on full power in your microwave for 4 ½ min. Remove and let cool. At this point they will still be rubbery and moist. After 5 min or so return to the microwave for another minute or so, then remove and once more cool. It will probably be necessary to cook them for one more minute or minute and ½ to attain the proper degree of dryness. Exact times are hard to give due to variables in brands of hot dogs, wattage of microwaves and how thick you cut your slices. When fully cool they should be dry and slightly crisp. Don’t worry if you accidently burn some of them, the dogs couldn’t care less!! Store in a tightly covered container.

DOG BISCUITS
(a bit messy to make but once bakes—is nice and CLEAN in hands and pockets)
3 1/2oz jar of baby food (liver or beef)
1/3c wheat germ
2/3c powdered milk
Mix all—Coat your own hands in cornmeal (mixture is sticky and this will keep it from sticking to your hands) roll a heaping TBSP of it in your hands like you’re making meatballs, then place the ball onto a greased cookie sheet, then pat it down into a pattie with your coated fingertips. Bake 350 degrees for 21-14 min. I like to sprinkle some garlic powder in the mix, these also can be frozen for later use or traveling purposes. The patties should be about 2 ½ in diameter for convenience. I haven’t seen a dog turn these down. (Helen Dalton)

LIVER LUMPS
1LB beef liver
1 egg
½ tsp garlic powder
1 to 2c whole wheat flour
Mix liver, egg and garlic powder in food processor (a blender works too) until liver looks like baby food. Stir in flour a little at a time until you have a thick but pourable batter. Spread into a 8×8 greased pan. Bake @ 350 until dry—about 30 min. Cut into ½ in squares. Store in freezer. Makes lots! (Jeannie Warnke)
